Hi everyone!

I am Julia. I am an Engineering Manager at Automattic – a fully distributed company behind site-building, e-commerce and blogging services such as WordPress.com, Tumblr, and more.

Driven by user success, I take pride in leading quality initiatives for Automattic’s e-commerce platform WooCommerce. I am responsible for improving core product experience through test plans and strategies, automated end-to-end testing, issue triaging and advocating for quality culture.

In July 2016, I started to work as a Technical Support Engineer. I soon realized that I wanted to work towards becoming a Software Engineer. As I was working, I was learning how to code along the way mostly using JavaScript. In this blog, I share the steps I was taking in my journey. I also talk about projects I am working on today as an engineer, share random code snippets as well as stories of my frustration, struggles, wins and moments of happiness when the code just works.

I also have a personal blog where I frequently post about my life, traveling and art. I currently live in New York City and enjoy everything the city has to offer.

Follow along if you like and feel free to drop me a line or two 🙂
